High Atlas Mountains Morocco

JIM,HASSAN,CARLA,OLLIE ON THE SUMMIT OF TOUBKAL (4126M)

So after drinking far too much pastis and beer, we woke up early to grab a "grand taxi" in marrakesh! we managed to argue the price down to 300dh (still being rippped off) but hey who cares!! we carried onto the village of imil! This town is fully set up for tourist, everyone selling the normal tacky shit you find everywhere. We organised our guide, a local called 'hassan' of course! we organised a mule, cause we were far too intelegent to suffer with rucksacks on our back just for the sake of it!! We also had to hire crampons froma local jewellery store, as you can imagine it took some time to get the right screws and the right parts!!

We then walked up for what seemed to be ages, well it was only 5/6 hrs, but the path never gave in it! IT WAS UP!! then halfway up Toubkal we stayed in a Refuge, it was full of "Spanish Mountaineers" with there brand new gear and their big beards! It has to be said the atmosphere was weird, no body wanted to talk, except two cool french dudes who we had our dinner with!! (spagahetti)

JIM WONDERING WHICH WAY TO GO?

Early the next morning,we woke up and ventured out into the snow at around 7 in the morning! we walked up and myself and jim deffiently felt the altitude! carla however ran up the mountain. I think this was cause i was carrying all her gear!! We summited early and headed on down the mountain into the lower valley! the amazing photo's we had seen from past parties, were deffiently different to what we had! visabilty was down to 50m and it was raining/snowing!! You gotta love Africa!!


VISABILTY

We then found ourself 10hrs after starting, in a Hammam (Moroccean steam room/massage palour) usually only for men! We asked wether carla, the only female in our party could come in! they were cool with this!! as inside much to our surpise we were welcomed by half a dozen bikinni clad 18 year old french girls! but that's a diffferent story!!!!
